Brisbane’s creative industries have received some much needed PR/recognition in this month’s Monocle magazine. The feature article encompasses Brisbane’s overall creative growth, focusing primarily on the city’s local architectural talent. You can also find a short interview with Mayor Campbell Newman, discussing the council’s plans of handling Brisbane’s future growth with a design-conscious mindset.
The article was written by Katrina Blowers and complimented with photography by Tammy Law – both Brisbane locals. While I was a little disappointed that the words themselves were written by one of our own, it’s obviously still positive to see it grace the pages of Monocle.
Whilst on the topic of Brisbane itself, I’ve only recently come by the plans for the development of the Howard Smith Wharves. This could be a great step forward in the development of the city, granted it’s thought out and executed properly (unlike the Chinatown Mall). Find out more info here.
If you’re after a copy of that Monocle issue you can grab it at the APTMNT store, among many other selected (but not as good) stockists.
